The Kindness Elves love to think of ways to spread thankfulness and gratitude amongst kids!
Did you know that research shows thankfulness leads to deeper happiness in life? Therefore it is so important to cultivate a habit of gratitude in children from an early age.
The Nature Loving Elves had a great idea to use some of the big pumpkins they grew in their pumpkin patch this year to make some thankfulness pumpkins! This is a whole family activity to celebrate gratitude together and can be used as a decoration and talking point once finished!
The Kindness Elves love to think of ways to spread kindness and show gratitude. They understand that feeling thankful leads to contentment and greater happiness in life!
The Nature Lovers have enjoyed thinking of this fun activity for you to do with your own family or class as a way to practice just that!
Let's Make Thankful Pumpkins!
Let's Make Thankful Pumpkins!
Let's Start:
Gather the family together and talk about all of the wonderful things, both big and small, that you are all thankful for.
It's often easier to start with the big, obvious things such as family, friends and good health.
Challenge the kids to look deeper and find even more things that they could list.
Then choose to either make one pumpkin each or to all decorate one collaboratively.
Take it in turns to write your words onto the pumpkins. Make them bright, colourful and fun to read!

When the pumpkins are finished use them as a decoration on the mantle or in the middle of the dining table.
Use them as a conversation starter at Thanksgiving meal or when friends come to visit!
Maybe leave some space so that friends and family can add their own too!
You could finish the thankful pumpkins with sparkles, glitter and sequins and tie a ribbon around the stalk!
Don't forget to take a photo as a keepsake before the pumpkin rots.
